NethServer is a CentOS-based Linux distribution for servers. The product's main feature is a modular design which makes it simple to turn the distribution into a mail server and filter, web server, groupware, firewall, web filter, IPS/IDS or VPN server. It also includes a comprehensive web-based user interface that simplifies common administration tasks and enables single-click installation of several pre-configured modules. NethServer is designed primarily for small offices and medium-size enterprises.
NB:- Latest stable version of the software will be delivered.
Alessio Fattorini has announced the release of a new development snapshot for NethServer, a server distribution based on CentOS. The new development snapshot, NethServer 7.3-rc3, is based on CentOS 7.3, increases the flexibility of the administrators group and improves HTTPS proxy handling. "We have changed the behaviour of the Transparent HTTPS proxy dropping the MITM (Man In The Middle) feature that inspects all the encrypted traffic, substituting it with a new implementation that sniffs only the beginning of the connection to discover the destination website (for filtering purposes). We can do this now because CentOS 7.3 introduced squid 3.5 which has a new function to intercept HTTPS connections, called peek and splice. Basically, it means that we peek at the beginning of the connection to discover the destination website (and block it if desired) and then let the traffic flow unaltered from the client PC to the secure website.".
Alessio Fattorini has announced the release of NethServer 6.8, a new stable version of the server-oriented distribution, featuring a web-based management console and based on CentOS 6.8: "I'm proud to announce that NethServer 6.8 has been released and is publicly available. It is the newest long-term support release. There are tons of major changes to NethServer and it's impossible to cover them all in detail here, so here are some of our favorite highlights: based on the recently-released CentOS 6.8 operating system; SELinux policy changed from permissive to disabled; package collectd upgraded from version 4 to 5; new interface module for managing policy routing rules; new configuration for the multi-WAN monitoring along with a new interface; better spam filtering by using the DNS-based Blackhole List (DNSBL); support for CIDR and IP ranges as source and destination for proxy bypass; it's now possible to create a bond with specific mode from the Network page....".
Alessio Fattorini has announced the release of NethServer 6.7, an updated release of the project's CentOS-based distribution designed for servers: "We are proud to announce a new release, NethServer 6.7. We have a new full-featured groupware, called WebTop, which implements the ActiveSync protocol. Work on PPPoE support has been completed, adding this choice into the multi-WAN configuration panel and allowing the creation of a new PPPoE provider associated with a free Ethernet assigned. Two fantastic new packages have been released - nethserver-adagios which installs and configures Adagios and nethserver-ocsinventory which installs and configures OCS inventory; a new Monitoring group is also available. Now it's possible to create an IPsec tunnel with devices from other manufacturers or between two NethServer, allowing advanced configuration customization to maximize interoperability and displaying tunnel status in a dedicated page.".
Alessio Fattorini has announced the release of NethServer 6.6, the new stable version of the project's CentOS-based specialist distribution for servers: "We are proud to announce a new NethServer release. This is a thrilling day for the whole NethServer community. It has been a journey to get to this point and we are so excited about the journey ahead of us. Upgrading from 6.6 RC1 is straightforward. From the Software Center page, just check for available updates. For previous releases, check out the release notes. At first login after system installation, the Server Manager displays the First Configuration wizard, where the administrator (root user) can set the password, change the host name, select the time zone and tune other security-related settings. We simplified the interactive installer removing some sections that were moved to the first configuration wizard. The Package Manager page has been renamed Software Center, and moved to the Administration section.".
