Parsix GNU/Linux is a live and installation DVD based on Debian GNU/Linux. The project's goal is to provide a ready-to-use and easy-to-install operating system based on Debian's Stable branch and the latest stable release of the GNOME desktop environment. Extra software packages are available for installation from the distribution's own software repositories.

The main highlights are: Improved live system with new start-up and shut-down scripts, new live structure, new Squashfs + LZMA compression system, updated installer system, new 2.6.23.14 kernel with CFS 24.1, CK, TuxOnIce 3.0-RC5, Iwlwifi and other patches, GNOME 2.20.3, lots of updated packages including OpenOffice.org 2.2.1, GNU Iceweasel 2.0.0.11, GIMP 2.4.3, glibc 2.7, Pidgin 2.3.1, all packages have been synchronized with Debian testing repository as of January 24, 2008, new GUI X.Org configuration tool ported from Ubuntu, new attractive look and feel.".

Parsix GNU/Linux 0.80 has been released: "After 3 months of development and testing, a brand new version of Parsix GNU/Linux i686-optimized desktop is available. The new Parsix is based on the current Debian unstable tree, with kernel 2.6.16.17 (plus many patches including CK's performance patches and extra WLAN drivers), X.Org 7.0.20, GNOME 2.14.2, OpenOffice.org 2.0.2 and new desktop theme.
